Nash car dealership from the Library of Virginia on Flickr.Between chapters of Econ studying these past few days, I’ve been watching a lot of Mad Men. Those of you who have been around here for a while would know that I have a hidden love for 1950s America – the simplicity, the lifestyle, everything. Though Mad Men is closer to the 1960s, I can’t help but get lost in the “days gone by.”The Commons on Flickr has a new member – the Library of Virginia. George’s post introducing them included this picture. Apart from drooling over the car (I love vintage cars), the sign in the background really caught my eye. 41.57 MILES PER GALLON? In 1954??! My 2004 Toyota doesn’t even get half of that.Ahh the joys of consumerism. We need cars no matter how many MPG they get so the car companies can pretty much get away with making whatever they want. Can we please go back to the 1950s? With one exception. I’d like a computer please :)
